I met Nick already in the 2000s, when I was still young. I was impressed by his konweldge & wisdom (!), his enthusiasm and, also, his desperation. It seems to me that he has been the most brilliant, kind and profound philosopher I have ever met. Unfortunately, he has also been the most ignored, given his stature. For a few years I had to review several of his books and articles (I was one of the few who could do so, because few knew his work). One day I received the umpteenth review assignment for one of his papers, and I thought it was time to find another reviewer. I told them, "I feel like I've become Nicholas Maxwell's official reviewer, and I think you should look for someone else." They replied: "We are very happy to have found Nicholas Maxwell's official reviewer. The deadline is...". I ended up doing the review.
